This Meats and Beans Pail features protein-rich favorites for use in the preparation of full-flavored, nourishing and mouth-watering dishes. Or they can be added to other Live Prepared entrees to boost taste and nutritional values. This pail offers the popular beans: black, red and pinto, as well as easy-to-prepare, savory and chunky morsels of freeze dried beef and chicken. These meats and beans also add volume, nutritional value and taste to your Live Prepared emergency preparedness Base Kit, extending its usefulness and adding variety.
Black Beans have a dense, meaty texture and a rich, full flavor all their own that makes them popular for all kinds of dishes -- from Mexican to Cajun and Creole. Serve them alone or with rice and meat. They're also particularly good in soups and casseroles. Like all beans, they store well for long-term emergency preparedness.
Pinto Beans, perhaps better known as "frijoles," are most often refried for use in tacos and other Mexican dishes. But they are also tremendously popular in a variety of bean dishes, such as barbeque, chili and baked beans. High in fiber, low in cholesterol, these delectable beans are ideal for everyday cooking, as well as long-term emergency preparation.
Red Beans are large, kidney shaped beans with colored skin and a firm, white meat. Popular in a variety of dishes due to their strong bean flavor, they are most often used to make chili. Add them to rice for variety. Garnish salads with them for more color, taste and texture. Add them to soups, casseroles and more. Since they are noted for absorbing seasoning flavors and the taste of other foods with which they are cooked, they are particularly useful in simmered dishes and in long-term emergency preparedness.
Freeze Dried Beef Bites are the ideal way to keep beef on hand for emergency food storage. This isn't ground beef. It's pre-cooked, wholesome, tender, savory and chunky beef, made from choice cuts, inspected and approved by the USDA. Simply rehydrate and use like regular cooked beef. Add it to stews, stroganoff, hot dishes, soups, casseroles, sandwiches and tacos -- almost any dish that calls for beef. Since it is real beef, it's ideal for emergency preparedness.
Freeze Dried Chicken Bites are a quick and delicious way to add chicken to any dish. Naturally low in fat, you simply rehydrate these pre-cooked morsels of real poultry and then use them as you would cooked chicken. These tasty chunks can be added to pastas, stir fry, casseroles, salads, sandwich mixes, enchiladas and a variety of other recipes. Use them in your long-term emergency preparedness program.
*Pouches in a sealed pail have a shelf life of up to 15 years. Once pouches have been removed, shelf life is up to 7 years or pouch "best by" date, whichever comes first. Opened pouches have a shelf life of one year. When properly resealed, briefly opening the pail to examine or remove pouches should have no effect on overall shelf life of the remaining pouches. Best when stored in a cool, dry place at temperatures between 55°F and 70°F (ideal humidity 15%).
